Pre (and post) nuptial agreements
Although prenuptial agreements are not automatically binding in this country, if they are prepared carefully and in accordance with certain guidelines, they are highly likely to be adhered to by a court in the event of a later dispute.
Pre and postnuptial agreements are becoming increasingly common. They are often used to preserve wealth held by one or both parties such as inherited assets, a family business or simply money built up prior to the relationship.
We understand that people often do not want to think about separation at a time when their relationship is thriving and they are contemplating marriage. However many find that, within a strong relationship, some certainty about their future can be of great benefit.
